Architectural Overview

The Wawaset Park Deed and the designation of the neighborhood as a National Historical Place require that certain architectural guidelines be adhered to.  To comply with this requirement, the Wawaset Maintenance Corporation has an Architectural Committee.  ALL exterior alterations must be submitted to this committee for approval before work may commence.  A copy of the application form can be found below.

A list of some of the most common alterations are provided below, but this list is not to be construed as a complete listing of items requiring approval:
            

  • Changes to the “footprint” of the buildings on the property

  • Changes to the structure of the buildings on the property         

  • Replacement of existing fencing

  • Installation of new fencing

  • Building of walls

  • Building of patios

  • Replacement of windows and doors

  • Modification of porches

  • Replacement of roofs or changes to roofing materials

  • Changes to existing house, shutter, or trim paint colors

  • Alteration of garages (including doors)

  • New or modifications to swimming pools
